How do you make a snow globe at Hello Tutu?

We don’t need to remind you that making a snow globe is peak happiness and fun. Here are the steps involved in creating a custom snow globe at our studio:

  • Prepare your snow globe base: Our team will take care of this step for you. Preparation involves sanding the wood down and applying a primer.
  • Choose your mini-figurines: Pick out three to four mini-figurines and start decorating the inside of your dome. You can choose from one of our pre-selected mini-figurines. Be sure to position the mini-figurines so that they fit inside the globe dome!
  • Attach your mini-figurines to the base: Our staff will help you attach these mini-figurines to the base using a special glue. Add more material to create a landscape around the mini figurines. Let your globe content set, and start working on the base. If you are including a photo, our staff will help you with this step as well.
  • Color your snow globe base: We provide you with acrylic to paint your base. Start by painting the bottom of the base. Paint slowly and apply a few layers of paint for optimal results. Avoid applying paint to the inside of the base where the globe secures. Our staff will apply tape to areas that do nt require paint.
  • Apply whipped cream glue & charms: Once the paint has set, you can start applying whipped cream glue and charms to decorate your snow globe base. Applying cream glue gives your snow globe base a 3D appearance and makes it pop. Applying charms adds another dimension of beauty and depth to your snow globe project.
  • Wait: You must now wait for the cream glue to set. Take a 30-minute break and come back to finish the snow globe.
  • Add “snow” to the globe: The final step is to add the special liquid and “snow”. Choose which glitter color you’d like to use for your snow, and our staff will take care of the rest for you. We use a special solution, mix it with the glitter color of your choosing, and fill the globe. Be aware that there will be a small bubble in your globe that allows for water expansion and contraction during temperature changes.
  • Attach the base to the dome: It’s time to wrap up the snow globe. We will attach the dome firmly to the base using a hot glue gun. Your snow globe is now officially complete and ready to go home with you.

How long does it take to make a snow globe?

It typically takes about one to two hours to make a custom snow globe. If you want to add your photo to the globe, we will take your picture and laminate it for you. You can also bring your own photos, but be aware that each photo can only be displayed on one side, so you will need two photos if you want them displayed on both sides. We require a headshot-sized photo, or slightly larger, for it to fit inside the globe dome.
